The diesel engine is finally coming to Mazda Chatel! Starting in 2018, Mazda's own SKYACTIV-D technology will be offered under the hood of the Mazda CX-5.

Already offered with a choice of two gasoline engines, the Mazda CX-5 will be officially available with a new diesel variant.

MAZDA IS AT THE FOREFRONT OF TECHNOLOGY WITH SKYACTIV-D

A brand new member of the SKYACTIV engine family, this 2.2-liter four-cylinder diesel engine is a real revolution in the world of diesel vehicles.

Adopting the world's lowest compression ratio for a diesel engine, the SKYACTIV-D technology succeeds in fetching a fuel economy reduced by 20% compared to the old generation.

The compression ratio has a big part to play in this huge improvement, but that's not all. Mazda’s new diesel engine has also been lightened by 25 kilograms thanks to the significant use of aluminum. Certain components like the pistons thus lost 25% of their weight in the development of this engine.

Polluting emissions are also greatly reduced thanks to SKYACTIV-D technology, allowing this new engine to respect all the environmental standards in force brilliantly.

PERFORMANCE PUT FORWARD WITH SKYACTIV-D TECHNOLOGY
